MANTEO — The second annual multi-day event organized by the local nonprofit, The Secotan Alliance, was well-attended and considered to be a resounding success by organizers. “In the Spirit of Wingina 2: Our Women...Our Words...Our Water” took place in Manteo and in Nags Head on Friday and Saturday, May 30-31.
Like its predecessor last year, the free, public events stemmed from the nonprofit’s mission to educate people about Chief Wingina’s lasting impact and share the continuing applicability of the Indigenous earth ethic by which Wingina lived and died.
