MANTEO — The Dare County Board of Commissioners at its Monday meeting stressed that no county taxpayer funding will be used in the upcoming construction of the Dare Early College in Manteo, addressing community concerns that board members indicated were voiced recently.
“It’s absolutely absurd what you read on social media, that we’re in jeopardy of not getting the state education lottery funds,” Chairman Bob Woodard said.
County Manager Bobby Outten shared during the meeting that the early college high school will be financed through leveraging debt and paying that debt off with the state funds available to the county for capital improvements.
