North Carolina leaders announced Friday afternoon that the Trump administration reversed course and will release the nearly $7 billion in public school funding across the nation it had frozen indefinitely the day before its scheduled July 1 release.

The Dare County Board of Commissioners at its Monday meeting stressed that no county taxpayer funding will be used in the upcoming construction of the Dare Early College in Manteo, addressing community concerns that board members indicated were voiced recently.

The replacement of the 65-year-old Lindsay C. Warren Bridge, locally known as the Alligator River Bridge, is ongoing despite nearly a quarter of the project’s funding currently being frozen by the federal government, an NCDOT spokesperson confirmed.
