The Trump administration’s recent freeze of federal public school funding totals over $750,000 across Outer Banks area public school districts.
This funding is earmarked for specific programs, including those supporting teachers’ professional development for effective instruction, providing after-school programming and supporting English learners.
WUNC first reported that the following local districts are affected by the following amounts: Dare County Schools, $232,809; Currituck County Schools, $173,952; and Hyde County Schools, $50,093.
However, in response to questions Outer Banks Insider sent local districts about the freeze on Monday, Hyde County Schools issued a press release Thursday evening stating that the district is impacted by over $350,000.
