KILL DEVIL HILLS — A Nags Head resident was cited for “failure to stop at a steady red light” after Sunday’s two-vehicle crash at the Colington Road intersection in Kill Devil Hills, according to the Kill Devil Hills Police Department spokesperson.
While the crash resulted in an overturned vehicle, no significant injuries were reported.
Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 158 (N. Croatan Highway) and Colington Road at approximately 11:29 a.m. on Sunday, according to Lt. Julie Haner.
“A 2022 Chevrolet SUV operated by 27-year-old Nags Head resident Nikola Mladenovsk was traveling southbound on U.S. 158 and failed to stop for a steady red traffic signal,” Haner said in a Tuesday morning email response.
“At the same time, a 2022 Subaru operated by 75-year-old Southern Shores resident Andrea Facci was traveling eastbound on Colington Road with a green signal and entered the intersection,” Haner continued. “The Subaru struck the Chevrolet in the intersection, causing the Chevrolet to overturn and come to rest in the northbound travel lane.”
Dare County Emergency Medical Services evaluated both drivers on scene, but neither was transported for treatment, according to Haner.
The crash resulted in the temporary closure of U.S. Highway 158, with both directions of traffic rerouted until the scene was cleared.
