In Dare County Superior Court in Manteo, a Stumpy Point man recently pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the April 2024 fatal stabbing of a man by pirate sword.

The brother of a man fatally stabbed by a pirate sword last April in Stumpy Point said his family is “very frustrated” that the state keeps pushing them to accept a plea deal for the man accused of murder to serve a seven-year sentence for voluntary manslaughter instead.

A guilty plea and sentencing took place Thursday morning at the Dare County Justice Center in Manteo related to the fiery December bridge crash that claimed the life of a 2-year-old.

The father of the 2-year-old who died in a fiery fatal vehicle collision last week is expected to recover.
