NAGS HEAD — A Nags Head man was arrested Monday on two felony charges of sexual crimes against a 10-year-old girl, online court records show.

An officer with the Nags Head Police Department arrested Charles Everett Holland II, 62, of the 4600 block of South Blue Marlin Way in Nags Head on charges of “indecent liberties with child” and “crime against nature,” according to online court records.

Both charges were filed on Monday.

Holland was incarcerated Monday evening on those two charges at the Dare County Detention Center in Manteo, where he remains incarcerated as of publication time, according to information on the Dare County Sheriff’s Office app.

Holland’s first appearance in Dare District Court took place on Tuesday, at which time his initial $250,000 secured bond was increased to $400,000, court records show. He was assigned a public defender, and his next court date was set for Tuesday, April 22.

The alleged offense date for the “indecent liberties with child” charge was listed as April 1, 2022, and the alleged “crime against nature” charge was dated a year earlier, the online magistrate’s order shows.

The investigation is ongoing, Town of Nags Head officials confirmed to Outer Banks Insider on Thursday afternoon.

On Friday just before noon, the Town of Nags Head issued a press release to all area media announcing Holland’s arrest “in an investigation involving alleged sexual abuse of a minor that took place from 2021 to 2024.”

Court records show that a new case was opened against Holland with six additional felony charges filed on Thursday, all with alleged offense dates of April 1, 2021.

These charges were: Four counts of indecent liberties with a child, one count of disseminating obscene material to minors under the age of 13 years and one count of attempted first-degree forcible sexual offense.

On Friday, Holland’s bond in this case was set at $750,000, court records show, putting his total bond for both cases at $1,150,000.

Anyone with information about this active investigation should contact the Nags Head Police Department at 252-441-6386, the Friday press release said.
