CURRITUCK — Longtime Judge Edgar L. Barnes, who just won reelection unopposed on Nov. 5, will retire on Jan. 1, 2025, and five area nominees recently received votes in hopes of filling his seat for the next two years of his four-year term.

 

The First Judicial District Bar vote—essentially a local vote of confidence—for those vying to fill Barnes’ vacancy in District 1 Seat 4 took place the afternoon of Friday, Dec. 13, at the Currituck County Courthouse in Currituck.
