Cape Hatteras Lighthouse getting down to bare bricks, remains closed to climbers

BUXTON — The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton, North Carolina, is currently a work zone, with scaffolding covering the entirety of the lighthouse.

 

The $19.2 million lighthouse restoration project began this February and is expected to take 18 months. The Massachusetts-based Stone & Lime Historic Restoration Services was awarded the project contract in September 2023.
